Selling real estate is like any sales position.  It is all about the numbers. The more calls you make, the more properties you see and the more people you touch, the better chance of you closing more transactions. Hitting the numbers with a definite plan of action, a plan of attack with a purpose, will give you an advantage over most other agents in your area.

Most new agents pass their state course and work with a broker and work through a major company. Hopefully, your broker is an excellent teacher and will become your mentor. He or she will be there to get you through those first few transactions until you have the knowledge to master all the closing scenarios yourself. Some of these brokers and firms provide training to get you started. Please take advantage of every bit of training you can get. You will still need your own business plan to be successful.

On the other side of the coin you may start working for a broker who shows you where the desk, phone and PC are and say, "have at it". You are on your own.

To tell you the truth, either way you are basically on your own. This is your business. You have the technical knowledge from taking the pre-license course and passing your exam, but you don't have the product or marketing knowledge.
